Tornado Damage Update: Help Needed

YMCA Camp Hanes sustained significant damage on Wednesday, May 24, when a tornado came through the Sauratown Mountain area. Every single facility and program area was impacted by the tornado, with varying amounts of damage. Professionals have been on site every day since then. Tree removal companies have been clearing trees and insurance adjusters are still on site. Water removal has occurred in multiple buildings. Contractors are working on structural repairs. We are hard at work and getting ready for summer camp to open on June 11.

Now we need your help! We are holding Community Clean Up Days. Here are the details:

Shuttles will be taking volunteers to and from YMCA Camp Hanes throughout the day. There is no parking at camp, volunteers must take the shuttle.
Park at Mount Olive Baptist Church
5413 North Carolina Hwy 66 S, King, NC 27021

What to bring:
Work gloves, brooms, rakes, leaf blowers, etc.
We need help clearing debris and loading onto dump trucks, so any other supplies you think is helpful would be great!

Food and water will be provided for all volunteers. You may want to bring a refillable water bottle. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please RSVP to helpcamphanes@ymcanwnc.org so we know how many people to expect.

We understand that not everyone who would like to is able to attend, but you can still help. If you would like to make a financial contribution, please click here to donate. Insurance does not cover all of the clean-up costs and we are very grateful for your support.
