Help Send a Military Kid to Camp

In 2014, YMCA Camp Hanes began partnering with Camp Corral to send children of military parents to experience a week at camp.

The program gives priority to children of wounded, ill, disabled or fallen military service members. At Camp Hanes, kids are free to be kids, away from the day-to-day challenges they face in their military families. Kids participate in traditional outdoor activities such as archery, canoeing and swimming, and have the opportunity to meet other kids who share similar family situations.

But not every child is able to attend. Over 150 kids were on the wait list last summer and were not able to attend. We’re asking you to help. You’ve seen the impact the camp experience has on a child. Can you make it possible for these kids?

The need for your gift is urgent. Below you can make your gift online, or you can call or email Carmina Eder at 336.983.3131 or c.eder@ymcanwnc.org.
